Shad (full name Shadrach Kabango) has released five studio albums. He won Rap Recording of the Year at the 2011 Juno Awards for his third album, TSOL, and was shortlisted for the 2014 Polaris Prize for Flying Colours. In his broadcasting career he has hosted CBC Radio One’s Q, and he hosts HBO’s four-part documentary series Hip-Hop Evolution.

“What Shad reveals of himself on TSOL is spiritual without being preachy, righteous without being self-righteous, and human without sounding mundane,” says Pitchfork magazine. According to Paste magazine, Shad “has carved out a spot as Canada’s most talented, genuine musical artist and one of the industry’s finest poets.”
